The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Carol Petillo can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Carol's grace

I met Carol shortly after I became an administrator at Boston College in 1978. From that time until her retirement she was a friend and a guide to academic life and the university she served. Humorful, energetic, open, and warm, she was fun to know and to be with. If she was having lunch with her gang of historians at one of the communal tables in the faculty dining room when I came in, I'd be sure to make my way to their table I When I learned she was retiring to Vinalhaven, I was surprised. I thought  that a person of her social and intellectual capacities would need a city, or at least a bustling town. Boy was I wrong. Carol knew how to live and make her life, in counrtry or city. I was saddened to learn of her death, but feel fortunate to have known her.
