John Long

Co-owner and Licensed Director

John Long, Co-owner/Funeral Director of the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service is a 1967 graduate of Searsport District High School and a 1971 graduate of New England Institute of Anatomy & Embalming in Boston. He served on the Board of Directors of the Maine State Funeral Director’s Association from 1997 to 2006  

John is a member of the State Association’s Disaster Response Team having been certified through the Department of Homeland Security to respond to mass fatality incidents. In 2008, he became interested in the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and sponsored one of their the Out of The Darkness Walks. John resides in Belfast with his wife, Dianne, is a member of the Belfast United Methodist Church and the Camden Lion’s Club. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Searsport Historical Society and the Camden District Nursing Association.

Julie Clement

Co-owner, Licensed Funeral Attendant and Business Manager

Julie Karl Clement, Co-owner, Licensed Funeral Attendant, and Business Manager of the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, is a 1974 graduate of Rockland District High School and attended the University of Maine in Augusta. Following a career in property and casualty insurance, she entered funeral service in 1992. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Methodist Conference Home in Rockland since 1998, and is currently on the Board of Directors of the Camden District Nursing Association. In 2008, she became involved in the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and sponsored one of their Out of the Darkness Walks. Julie is also currently a member at the First Congregational Church in Camden. She resides in Rockport with her two dogs Bailey and Bentley.

Elwood Doran

Licensed Funeral Attendant

Elwood is a native of the Midcoast, graduating from Rockland District High School in 1976. He joined the Long Funeral Home family in 2009 after a 30-year career in business, retiring as COO of a statewide chain of stores serving Maine music educators. A past master of St. Paul's Masonic Lodge #82 in Rockport, and an active member of the Valley of Rockland Scotish Rite. In addition he serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of their Charity Fund. A professional musician since high school, Elwood still performs locally as a member of the band Creatures of Habit. He currently lives in Camden, Maine with wife Laurie.

Randy Stearns

Licensed Funeral Attendant

Randy is a 1977 graduate of Camden-Rockport High School and is a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on destroyers and submarines. He is self employed as a property maintenance manager and care taker. Randy is active in the local community as a member of the Knox County Budget Committee, President of Maplewood Cemetery Corp., a board member of the Camden Rockport Historical Society,   Chairman of the "Friends of Mt. Battie Tower" as well as an active member of King David's Masonic Lodge in Lincolnville and the Valley of Rockland Scotish Rite . Randy is married with two children Justin and Jenna, and resides in Camden.

William Waldron III

Licensed Funeral Attendant

Will started his calling in funeral service working for a local area funeral home during his high-school years by washing cars and vacuuming the funeral home. After graduating with distinction from Oceanside High School in 2015, Will received his Funeral Attendant’s License. In 2019, he moved to Camden and went to work in January of 2020 with Long Funeral Home.
In addition, Will works for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office as a Chaplain for the Patrol Division. A well-known Knox County native, Will, is a vital part of the community, and was recipient of a Citizenship award in one of the local schools. He can be found visiting friends, going out to eat, or playing piano for local churches & events. He enjoys the company of his dogs, Leo & Rolo. 

John B. Laite

Licensed Funeral Attendant and Administrative Assistant

Growing up in Camden, John’s family owned and operated the Laite Funeral Home until 1984 and what is now known as Long Funeral Home. After spending time away from the funeral service industry, John has made a full circle and is working with the families he grew up knowing and assisting them in the time of need with respect and dignity and considers their feelings with empathy. .
John is a 1980 graduate of Camden-Rockport High School. He attended Husson College and is a 1983 graduate of Eastern Maine Technical Institute. John is past president of the Camden Lions Club, and past member of the Camden Fire Department. Also, a lifelong member of Saint Thomas Episcopal Church of Camden, John has served on several committees, and is currently on the outreach committee. John’s previous work experience involved Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company where he was an Engineering Assistant and MBNA Corporation where he was involved with information systems. John is an avid bike rider, fly fisherman and golfer. He and his wife Stephanie Pearson Laite reside in Union

BENTLEY CLEMENT 

In House Therapy Dog 

Bentley is a rescue dog who became part of the Long Funeral Home Family in 2018.
