Obituary

LINCOLNVILLE - Richard John Vaillancort, 73, husband of Connie Drinkwater Vaillancort, died on Sunday, July 5, 2020 following several months declining health. Born in Rumford on September 17, 1946, he was the son of Leo J. and Helena (Dodge) Vaillancort, and grew up in Camden. Following graduation from Camden High School, Rick served two tours in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam. He then completed courses at Southern Maine Vocational Institute and worked doing carpentry in the mid-coast area specializing in design and construction of stairs. Rick also worked with several building contractors including Duck Trap Woodworking on projects in Knox and Waldo counties.

A man of strong faith, Rick was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belfast, and was very devoted to his sister, Ruth Vaillancort.

Surviving is his wife, Connie Vaillancort of Lincolnville; his sister, Ruth Vaillancort of Northport; stepchildren, Daniel E. Cross of Thomaston, Joshua R. Cross of Rockland, and Merilee S. Cross of North Carolina; and several cousins.

Services were held on Monday, July 13, 2020. Memorial gifts in his memory may be made to Meals On Wheels, c/o MCH Inc., 46 Summer Street, Rockland, Maine 04841.

I feel so sad to learn of Richie's passing. We were classmates for many years in Camden and I always felt like one of his best friends. I remember him as warm caring young man. My time with him made me a better man.
