Obituary

CAMDEN – Harold E. Richards passed away Friday, May 15, 2020, at Pen Bay Medical Center, following a short illness. Born September 5, 1933 one of eleven children, Harold was the youngest child of Burnside and Hattie Demmons Richards.

For many years, Harold was employed at the Knox Woolen Company as a Loom Operator and then as a janitor for Camden Rockport High School. He also was a member of the Camden Volunteer Fire Dept. Enjoying sports, Harold in his youth, was an excellent roller-skater, which is how he met what would become his future wife Judy. Harold was an avid bowler and a champion of the Lucky Strike Bowling Lanes, the Hot Shot League, and the Tri-County Bowling League. He had a shelf filled with trophies. He also enjoyed softball and spending time at Goose River Golf Club.

Predeceased by his sisters, Winola and Florence; brothers, Clifton, Calvin, Norman, Albert, Raymond, Kenneth, and Freddie; Harold is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judith S. Richards; sister, Georgia; and surrounded by nephews, Tom Harriman and his wife Jill, Fred Harriman, Paul Richards, Calvin Richards, Kevin Chapin and his wife Dawn, and the two sons of Clifton & Evelyn Richards; as well as many great-nieces and nephews, all of whom were great to him.

He was blessed with many friends, all of whom he treasured, especially the rest of the foursome, (George, Jeff, & Lou) and no enemies. He will be greatly missed.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Richards family has chosen to remember his life privately. He will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery, Camden, Maine.
