For many years Harland had a dog named "Nikita." She went everywhere with and was dedicated to him. Harland loved to demonstrate Nikita's amazing skills at obeying, doing tricks and especially finding rocks. He'd rub a rock to get his scent on it and lob it as far as he could. It might take Nikita a couple minutes, but she wouldn't come back until she had found that rock. Nikita was as proud as she could be, but Harland was even prouder of her. As Nikita aged, time passed very quickly. One time we'd visit Harland & Nikita and she was 15 years old. A month later, we'd visit and she was 17 years old. The next summer, that dog was 22 years old. We'd all just chuckle as Nikita continued to age miraculously. We have no idea how old Nikita actually was when she crossed rainbow bridge, but I'm sure she delights in retrieving rocks for Harland once again.
