LINCOLNVILLE………. Elizabeth “Betty” Lowell, 75, passed peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Tall Pines in Belfast after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Camden on November 21, 1940 to Walter and Caroline (Pease) Sprowl. She grew up in Appleton and was a member of Camden High School Class of 1957.
On June 7, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Maynard G. Heal in Appleton. Together they owned and operated several local businesses including Heal’s General Store in Lincolnville Center and Dean & Eugley Garage in Lincolnville. Betty also enjoyed several years of employment at Camden Health Care Center, Auto Europe and MBNA.
Betty spent winters snowmobiling, and summers at Aldus Shores Campground in Searsmont. She was a skilled knitter, seamstress, baker and avid reader.
After 35 years of marriage, Betty lost Maynard. She filled her time with friends and family. She was a member of two Red Hat Society clubs, the Hope RFD, Lady Shriners, among numerous social groups and weekly gatherings.
In 1999, Betty married Earle P. Lowell of Waldoboro. She expanded her family, gaining nine step children whom she loved dearly. Together they enjoyed several cruises, as well as gardening, camping and boating until his passing in 2005.
After retiring from MBNA, Betty kept busy by helping her son with his Trash Removal business. Above anything else Betty loved to be surrounded by her loved ones. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her smile, and her generosity. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Betty is survived by her two sons, George Heal and his wife, Marie of Lincolnville, and Wayne Heal of Lincolnville. Three grandchildren, Nicholas Heal and his wife, Kristin of Lincolnville; Mackenzie Heal and her husband Marcos Llamas of Canton MI; and Kayla Heal of Rockport; two great-grandchildren, Eliza and Lincoln Llamas; her great-grand dog, Diesel; brother, Arthur Sprowl and his wife Kathy of Hope; sisters, Gloria Rivenburgh and her husband, Kenneth of Henrietta NY; Marie Berry and her husband, Wayne of Hope; and Mary Young of Camden.
Betty was predeceased by husbands, Maynard Heal and Earle Lowell; daughter-in-law, Jane Heal; sister Mickey Gindel; and brothers, Wayne Libby and Billy Byers.
A Memorial Service followed by a reception will be held at 1PM, Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the United Christian Church in Lincolnville Center with the Rev. Dr. Susan Stonestreet officiating.
