August 10, 1953 - February 10 2017
APPLETON…………………Frederick “Rick” Carroll Lyons, 63, passed peacefully at the Sussman House with his son, Gage Lyons and daughter, Briar Lyons by his side on February 10, 2017.
Rick was a talented woodworker, learning his trade from the old school masters. He was known for his tenderness and fondness for the forests, trees and mountains and spent much of his later years finding peace through searching for burls in the woods and then carving and releasing the inner heart and spirit of each one. He loved Maine because of the family history and many memories. He also loved the western mountains surrounding Lake Tahoe which was an integral part of his spiritual development as a young man.
Rick was beloved by many family members and friends, especially the friends he made over the past two years during his time at Home Depot. We are comforted by the friendship and companionship that he found in that community.
We are also comforted by the family members and friends who helped support and love our father throughout his life. You all know who you are and we love you.
Rick is survived by his son, Gage Lyons; daughter, Briar Lyons; five grandchildren; brother, Jeff Lyons and his wife Deni and their family, as well as many cousins.
A private memorial will be held next summer at the family camp. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com.
