Obituary for Scott D. Sebold
NORTHPORT……………….Scott David Sebold passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2020 following several months of declining health. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of James Michael and Carol (Shupp) Sebold.
Scott enjoyed all activities on the ocean including sailing, motor boating, paddle boarding, parasailing or scuba diving, and excelled as all of them. His love of the water came from growing up on the Megunticook River learning to canoe and sail at an early age. As a teenager, Scott began spending more time on the harbor and eventually saved enough funds to purchase a small black motorboat that he named the “Bat Boat”. He spent countless hours boating around Curtis Island and exploring the many coves around Camden and Rockport.
Later in life, his love of the ocean took him to Hawaii, Key West, the Virgin Islands, and other destinations. This love of the ocean would later inspire him to purchase a summer cottage in the Bayside community of Northport. He spent many enjoyable hours renovating the cottage to become a beautiful year-round home where he would spend the remainder of his days with his beloved wife, Kimber.
Having completed boat building school with great success, Scott returned to his career as a Master Electrician owning and operating Sebold Electric. Inspired by yacht design, his residential lighting work became even more creative and soon was in greater demand for his talent and artistic vision.
Always fond of dogs, some of Scott’s favorite memories were of Snoopy and Wren. Wren was a true beloved pet for Scott who often traveled with him on his sailboat and accompanied him at work sites, inspiring many paintings by the artist and his wife, Kimber.
Scott went out of his way to help people. His approachable smile and kind personality made people gravitate towards him. If anyone needed advice or help, Scott would be there.
Although Scott may have lived a short life, it is with great consolation that he lived his life to the fullest and exactly the way he wanted to live it. The few people who knew Scott well, loved him greatly for his kind caring soul, his huge heart, and will forever miss him.
Predeceased by his mother, Carol Sebold, Scott is survived by his wife, Kimber Lee Clark; father, James M. Sebold and his wife, Susan; sister, Robin Sebold and her husband, Rutley Chalk, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his good friends, Mark Sheldon, Steven Wickenden, Vicki Webster, as well as many friends and supportive neighbors.
