Obituary for Robert Erwin Heald

LINCOLNVILLE………………Robert Erwin Heald of Lincolnville, passed away on
November 18, 2022, with his family by his side, from complications of a stroke suffered on
October 24 th.
Bob was born in Hartford, CT on May 2, 1944. He soon moved to Framingham, MA,
where he grew up along with his younger sister, Susan. He graduated from Framingham
High School in 1962 and entered Nichols College that fall. While there he was a member
of the Woodsmen Team, participating in competitions around New England. He joined the
Army ROTC towards the end of his college career and began Officer Training after his
graduation and marriage to his first wife, Beverly in 1966. Bob continued in the Army
during the Vietnam era and subsequently worked at Ft. Meade in Maryland. The urge to
return to New England was strong and he accepted a job as a civilian with the Army Corps
of Engineers of New England moving to their Waltham, MA office where he worked until
his retirement in 1999.
During this time in Waltham he found a new life with his wife Roberta and her two sons,
Jason and Adam. Adding in Jennifer, Bob’s daughter, they were a family of five. Bob and
Roberta moved to Lincolnville and built a home on Bob’s grandfather’s farm on Youngtown
Road. Bob loved to tell stories of his youth in Lincolnville with all his cousins and friends,
especially their summer escapades, and of his grandparents and their life on “the farm”.
Bob spent much time and energy at various churches over the years. He had been a youth
club supervisor, a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, a trustee, a board chair, and on
occasion even preached a sermon or two. Bob and Roberta joined the United Christian
Church the first summer they were in Lincolnville.
Bob is well known for his hot dogs at the annual church Strawberry Festival! And he had
an important job at the LIA Blueberry Wing Ding where he spent several hours making
pancakes.
Bob leaves his wife of 36 years, Roberta; his daughter, Jennifer and her husband Dave
Kelly; his stepsons Jason and Adam Rawn; his granddaughters Amanda and Lauren Kelly;
his sister Susan and her husband Bob Eck as well as many friends and relatives. He will
be sadly missed.
Please join us for a service for Bob, and his father-in-law Gordon Harris, on Saturday,
December 3 at 11 AM. There will be a reception directly after the service in the
Community Building next door.
If you would like, a donation in Bob’s memory may be made to the United Christian Church
of Lincolnville, the Lincolnville Historical Society, or the Lincolnville Improvement
Association, all organizations near and dear to his heart.
