Obituary for Paul Edmund Tibbetts

CAMDEN.......................... Paul Edmund Tibbetts, 89, of Camden, died on Monday, January 3, 2022 at his home at Quarry Hill. Born in Augusta on June 13, 1932, he was the youngest of six children of Harold Merrill and Zillah (Wilbur) Tibbetts. Following high school, Paul attended Dartmouth University for two years before going to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. After his honorable discharge in 1954, he completed a degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Maine at Orono.

On July 20, 1957, Paul married Nancy Ann Clark of Belfast. They had three girls while Paul worked at the Maine State Department of Transportation. After 37 years of service, Paul and Nancy both retired from their respective jobs and took an extensive, months long road trip around the United States and Canada, ultimately settling in Naples, Fla. However they always vacationed in mid-Coast Maine every summer to see their children and grandchildren. In 2012, Paul and Nancy returned to Camden, where they enjoyed their new life at Quarry Hill. In particular, Paul enjoyed going to the movies every week, eating lunch out at his favorite local spots, and spending time with his family. Paul was a 60 year member of the Rockport Masonic Lodge, the Kora Temple Shrine, the Rockland Lodge of Elks #1008, and attended the First Congregational Church UCC in Camden when raising his family.

Predeceased by his wife, Nancy Ann (Clark) Tibbetts in 2016, a daughter, Karen Wiley in 1999, and all of his siblings, he is survived by two daughters, Liane Howard of Thomaston and Laurie Tibbetts of California, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Paul will be greatly missed by his devoted cat Tammy, who did not leave his side during his final illness.
