Obituary for Madeline Nevers Boynton

CAMDEN………………………Madeline Nevers Boynton, of Camden, died May 4, 2021 at Quarry Hill in Camden. Born in Norway, Maine, she was the daughter of Roland S. Nevers and Mildred M. Nevers and attended public school in Norway and graduated from Norway High School. After attending the University of Maine in Orono, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and started teaching Home Economics at Camden High School and became a 4H Club agent in Twin County.
Madeline married Harold Boynton in 1948 and they continued to live in Camden for the rest of their lives. She worked at the Village Shop for many years retiring in 1993. She sewed clothes for her daughters and costumes for the community theatre group performing at the Camden Opera House. Tole painting became a favorite hobby and she always had at least two projects going at the same time. She was also known for her cooking and every person who came to the house always got a cookie or a sweet treat. The holidays were celebrated by sending a box of goodies to many places around town. Maddie was also known as “the catnip lady”, making catnip mice for friends and their cats.
Madeline was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Harold Boynton, as well as her son-in-law, Stephen Patterson, and her grandson. Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Saulnier and her husband, Robert of Pembroke, NH; Katherine Patterson of Cushing; one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
