Obituary for Louis D'Agostino Jr.

CAMDEN……………..Louis Ralph D’Agostino, Jr., 79, owner of Coastal Tile and Stone, died on February 19, 2020 in Portland. Born on August 4, 1940 in Meriden, CT, he was the son of Louis and Roberta (Blosser) D’Agostino. Louis served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era receiving several accommodations.

Following his military discharge, he was responsible for student counselors at The Mott Farm and during the winter month, he took animals to teach the students. Alumni of the University of Michigan, Louie worked the Genesee County Parks and designed a water safety program to benefit for elementary students. He taught welding class at the Genesee Community College and taught skill classes to first time young adults entering the workforce.
An avid golfer, Louie had multiple tournament wins and held several longest drive records. He won a Mercedes Benz on a hole-in-one contest at a tournament in Colorado. Louis was a supporter of the junior golf programs at the Megunticook Gold Club, the Goose River Golf Club and the Samoset Golf Club. He was a corporate sponsor at the Red Lady Open for the adaptive sports program with actor, Tom Skerrett, at Crested Butte, Colorado. He golfed in many countries around the world and throughout the United States.

Louis managed a condominium complex in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida where he enjoyed shark fishing with this friend, Dave Mistretta on Jaws Too. His favorite restaurant there was Keegan’s Seafood Restaurant where he enjoyed the blackened grouper sandwich with friends and owner/chef Caesar.
In Camden, he owned and operated Coastal Tile & Stone Company and was a supporter of the Pen Bay YMCA, helping create and sponsor the tile wall there.

Surviving is his long-time companion, Susan Morse of Camden; daughter, Jennifer D’Agostino of Oklahoma City; sister, Mary Clow of FL; brother, Robert D’Agostino of Michigan; Aunt, Christine Honadle of FL; special nephew, Mike (Kristen) Coad, their children, Tanner, Amanda and Ashley, Duane (Debbie) Coad, Kevin (Susanne) Boyko, Mark (Debbie) Boyko; niece, Diane Coad Lipman and husband, David; Susan Haight & Glenn all of FL; stepdaughter, Melody (Scott) Knuth; granddaughters, Lauren Knuth, Brooke (Jarred) Knuth Ahl, Kelsey Knuth and fiancé Cody Pratt, all of Colorado.
A Memorial Golf tournament will be held at 1pm, Thursday, June 25, 2020 at The Samoset in Rockport, followed by a reception from 6-8PM at the Club House there.

Private interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Camden.
