Obituary for Karen Gray (Smith)

HOPE………………Karen Elizabeth (Smith) Gray, 77, wife of Terance P. Gray of Hope, died on Monday,
October 17th, 2022 at her home after several months of declining health. Born in Camden on March 9,
1945, she was the daughter of Carl and Priscilla D. (Alley) Smith. She attended school in Camden and
married Terance P. Gray on November 20th, 1969 in Dedham Massachusetts.

Karen worked at Schoolhouse Togs in Rockport, then for many years worked in the meat department at
the Camden IGA. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

In Karen's younger years she enjoyed drag car racing at the Winterport race track, always driving her
favorite car, a Pontiac GTO, and spending time in Washington state with her aunt and uncle. Later in life
Karen enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, and cooking. But her favorite thing to do was to spend time
with her grandchildren, which always included ice cream sundaes and chocolate chip pancakes.

Surviving is her husband, Terance, of Hope; three children, James A. Munroe, Jr. and wife Brenda of
Rockport, Robyn French and partner Daniel Eaton of Deer Isle and Stephanie Gray and partner Douglas
Hall of Warren; three grandchildren, Kayla Munroe, Kaitlyn Heanssler and Joshua French; sister, Sandra
Schramm of Rockland; one great-grandchild; Sister-in-law Pamela Crocket and husband Harold of
Camden; Brother-in-law Brent Gray and wife Carol of Warren; an aunt, Sally Dean of Rockland.
And a very special cousin Ann Marriner who selflessly dedicated her time to helping Karen as her health
declined.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Mountain View Cemetery
in Camden. There will be a reception following the service at the Camden American Legion Post #30,
located at 91 Pearl Street, Camden.
