CAMDEN…………………..Janice Lee Morong, 81, died on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Windward Gardens in Camden. Born in Camden on October 25, 1940, she was the daughter of Lawrence Lee and Frances (Pettee) Nash. Janice was a 1959 graduate of Camden High School and attended Westbrook Junior College. On September 10, 1960, she married Frank G. Morong at the First Congregational Church in Camden.
Janice worked as a bookkeeper at the Camden Snow Bowl, then Jackson Landscape where she worked for 22 years.
An avid golfer, Janice was a member of the Goose River Golf Club and a member of the Maine State Women’s Golf Association (MSWGA). She also loved to ski and was a long-time supporter of the Camden Snow Bowl and member of the former Camden Outing Club.
In the summer, she also enjoyed swimming, kayaking, and hiking with her grandsons when they were growing up.
Janice enjoyed watching high school sports, musical performances and theater performances. She loved animals, especially her granddog, Remington, an Australian Shepard with whom she loved to walk as often as she could.
She enjoyed a wide variety of crafts such as toll painting and basket weaving. Janice and Frank enjoyed traveling and visiting new places, and have a wide circle of many friends.
For many years, the Rockport Diner group met daily for breakfast as well as other social gatherings. This group of faithful friends have remained close and connected for a number of years
Janice was a strong, independent woman with a kind heart, a positive outlook on life, and a willingness to help those in need. One of her favorite things to do was helping deliver Meals on Wheels.
Surviving is her husband, Frank G. Morong; son Chris Morong and his wife Delisa, all of Camden; two grandsons, Josh Morong and his wife, Mary Kate, of Salem, MA; Dylan Morong and his wife, Emily of Thomaston; brother, Lawrence Nash and his wife, Martha, of Union; brother-in-law, William Morong and his wife, Glenna, sister-in-law, Louise Wentworth, all of Camden; several nieces and nephews.
If desired, memorial gifts may be made to PAWS, P.O. Box 707, Rockport, ME 04843. Graveside services f will be held at 2pm, Friday, June 3, 2022 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Camden with the Rev. Dr. Susan Stonestreet officiating. A reception will be held following the service at the Camden Snow Bowl. Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
