Obituary for Janan Babb Vaughn

JANAN BABB VAUGHN
CAMDEN………………Janan Babb Vaughn, 79, died peacefully, Thursday, May 2, 2019, with family by her side.
Janan was a wonderful, classy woman that was loved by many, and will be deeply missed. Our “Bam Bam” as she liked to be called by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was an amazing wife, mom and friend.
Janan’s life began on April 14, 1940, as the youngest child to Charles W. Babb and Helen Bird Babb in the idyllic town of Camden, where she met her dearest and closest friends in grade school. She met David, the love of her life, at a beach party at Megunticook Lake, and they married at the First Congregational Church on June 20, 1964. Although the family moved for career and then raised a family, Janan’s heart never left Camden, and when her children grew up and David retired, they moved back to the property she grew up on overlooking Penobscot Bay, until her passing.
Janan was generous with her resources, donating to the Penobscot YMCA, Camden Library, Garden Club and Vesper Hill Children’s Chapel. She loved to garden, knit, read, was an avid New England Patriots’ fan, and did crossword puzzles daily, but spending time with family and friends in good conversation and laughter, was her favorite pastime.
Janan is survived by her devoted husband, David E. Vaughn; children: David C. Vaughn (Kathryn Kemp) and Janan Archibald (Andrew); grandchildren: Jeremy Vaughn (Katie Dube), Alec Vaughn, Skye Archibald and Grace Archibald; great grandchildren: Avery Dube and Wit Dube-Vaughn; brother Charles A. Babb (Isa), as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
Family, friends and others whose lives have been touched by Janan are invited to the memorial service to be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 10:30 am, at the First Congregational Church, 55 Elm St, Camden, ME 04843 with the Rev. Dr. Ute Molitor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the Penobscot Bay YMCA, 116 Union Street, Rockport, ME 04856. Condolence and memories may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com. Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
