Obituary for George H. Blood

GEORGE H. BLOOD
WALDOBORO…………………George H. Blood, 78, died Saturday, November 27, after a lengthy battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He was born September 24, 1943, in Plymouth, Massachusetts and was the son of Herbert Blood and Arlene Lord Blood.
George served four years in the U.S. Navy before moving on to a whole host of careers: sales, engineering, woodworking, and any number of side projects along the way. He loved to paint and cared deeply about music and the arts, but his true passion was getting to know the people around him. He was known for striking up conversations and even creating lasting bonds with strangers, and happily dove in to help in any way he could when he found someone in need. George will be remembered by friends and family for his booming laugh and ready smile, his unconventional approach to life, and the joy he took in the world around him.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Pauline. He is survived by his children, Nancy, Denise, Jen, and Mike, as well as their families, including six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In consideration of the rising number of Covid cases and concern for immune-compromised family members, a funeral is not planned at this time. Memorial gifts may be made to Meals On Wheels, c/o MCH Inc., 46 Summer Street, Rockland, ME 04841 www.mchinc.org/donate . Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
