Obituary for Edward Kennedy

APPLETON……………….Edward Ray Kennedy passed away at the VA Hospital on August 1st at 12:42pm with his wife by his side at the age of 72.
He was born in Camden on March 18, 1949 and was the son of Robert E. Kennedy and Margaret H. (Fuller) Kennedy of Lincolnville.
Ed will be forever remembered by his loved ones and all who knew him as a strong and honorable man who loved old cars, old music, including building and racing vintage stock cars and building street rods.
Following graduation from Camden High School, he served in the U.S. Navy from Feb 1968 to Oct 1973, as a jet engine mechanic.
On June 14, 1969 he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Patricia A. Miller.
After leaving the Navy, they settled in Appleton, where they adopted two boys in 1973, Stephen E Kennedy (previously deceased) and Scott A Kennedy. During this time Edward worked at Bath Iron Works as an electrical engineer for 35 years, before retiring.
Edward was a member of the American Legion Post #30 in Camden as well as Am Vets Post #150 in Liberty.
In 1991 they welcomed a daughter, Samantha E. Kennedy, and in 1993 another daughter Sarah H. Kennedy.
Ed is survived by his wife Patricia A Kennedy, his mother, Margaret H Kennedy, his two brothers, Dana E. Kennedy and his wife Karen; Bradley A. Kennedy and his wife Thelma; son Scott A. Kennedy, two daughters, Samantha E. Kennedy, Sarah H. Bear and her husband, Nathan, his five grandchildren, Nathanyl Kennedy, Caleb A. Crouse, Cayden K. Kennedy-Jacobs, Jayce E. Kennedy- Jacobs and Annabeth H-L Kennedy-Jacobs, as well as countless other family members and friends.
Ed will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Visiting hours will be held at the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain Street in Camden on Monday, August 9 from 4pm to 6 pm.
The graveside will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Pinegrove Cemetery in Appleton. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com.
