Obituary for Donna Ann Lermond

DONNA LERMOND
ROCKPORT………………Donna Ann Lermond, 81, widow of William J. Lermond, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Knox Center For Long Term Care in Rockland where she had resided for the past four years. Born in Gardiner on September 21, 1937, she was the daughter of Carl W. and Arlene (Holt) Small. She married William Jake Lermond on October 5, 1952 in Rockport.
Donna was employed with SAD #28 food service department for 32 years where she made numerous friends and acquaintances, chatting easily and joking with the hundreds of students and teachers as they passed through the lunch line. Donna was easy going, good natured, and funny, a pro at playful teasing where she could give as well as get with those who knew her well.
She was a caring, loving grandmother – opportunities to be with any one, or all, of her grandchildren would take priority over anything else, including any plans she may have previously made. Donna was a gracious hostess, always offering food and drink to friends and family who stopped by her house morning, afternoon, and evening over the course of many years. Her quick wit and wry sense of humor could get even the most serious people laughing.
Donna enjoyed going out to breakfast, cruising to islands in the Carribean and to Mexico, yard sales and shopping, but possibly her favorite thing was her camp on Lermond Pond where she would take time alone, reading, sunning, napping, or with friends and family cooking out, swimming, fishing, or just appreciating time together on the water.
Surviving are her two sons, Richard Lermond and his wife, Toni Goodridge of Lincolnville, Scott Lermond and his companion, Holly Lawson-Lermond, brother, Carl “Skip” W. Small, Jr. and his wife, Linda, sister, Janice Graffam, all of Rockport; grandchildren, Lara Moro and her husband, Peter, of Cumberland, Luke Lermond and his wife, Katherine of Falmouth, Lani Lermond and her companion, Nick Lee of Portsmouth, NH, Jessie Lermond of Northport, and Lacey Lermond of Portland; four great-grandchildren; niece, Kimberlee Graffam and her husband Leni Gronros, nephews, Edward (Ted) Graffam all of Rockport, Peter Small and his wife Amber, and Alex Small all of Bangor; and several grand-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Lermond who died in 2002; brother-in-law, Maynard (Sandy) Graffam; and sister-in-law, Margaret Stanley Small.
A Memorial Service followed by a reception will be held at 2PM, Sunday, Jun 23, 2019 at the Rockport Masonic Center, 361 Main Street, Rockport with the Rev. Dr. Susan Stonestreet officiating. Memorial gifts may be made in Donna’s memory to Meals on Wheels, c/o MCH Inc., 46 Summer Street, Rockland. Condolences may be shared at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com. Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
