Obituary for Donna Jill O'Hara (Hildrith)

CAMDEN…………….Donna H. “Jill” O’Hara died peacefully at her home in Camden on February 29, 2020, surrounded by her family. She will be missed by many friends and family members. Jill was born in Freeport on July 26, 1932 and attended Yarmouth High School and Waynflete in Portland. One of six children of Watson and Amy Hildreth of Yarmouth, Jill married Francis J. O’Hara of Boston and moved to Maine shortly after. Frank and Jill started a family of four, Victoria, Catherine, Donna and Frank, Jr., living in Camden since 1954.
Jill was very involved in the Camden Yacht Club, the Megunticook Golf Club and the Mission Valley Golf Club of Venice. She loved participating in committees planning events, dances, annual outings, and fundraisers. Her passion for golf made her a regular at local golf courses in mid-coast Maine and the west coast of Florida.
Her other activities included cooking Sunday mornings at the Camden Snow Bowl, and participating in the Camden Women’s Club, doing needlepoint, weaving Nantucket baskets, knitting, making jam and jelly. She looked forward to the annual trips aboard the “Mandalay” to the islands of Lasalle, Birch, Seven Hundred Acre, and Brimstone.
Jill was a gracious hostess, a fantastic cook, and a consistent supporter of harp students. When not in Maine, she loved spending time in Venice, Florida and seeing the world with family and friends. Underlying all of these passions, Jill was always proud of and devoted to Francis, her husband of 67 years.
In addition to her husband, Francis J. O’Hara of Camden are her children, Victoria Bryant and her husband, John, of Camden; Catherine Eaton and her husband, Richard, of San Diego, CA; Donna Bruton and her husband, Keith, of of Seattle, WA; Frank Jr. and his wife, Lynette O’Hara, of Rockport; 10 grandchildren, Amy Bryant, Adam Bryant and his wife, Jessica, all of Camden; Emily Poor of Hampden; Hillary Eaton and her partner, Beau Belajonas of Portland; Erica Bruton, Jillian Bruton and her husband, Brian Jensen, Alan Bruton, all of Seattle; Nicholas O’Hara and his wife, Lindsey, of Hope; Frank O’Hara III of Seattle, WA; Casey O’Hara and his wife, Carrie of Rockland; 11 great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Elizabeth Fernald, Addison and Claire Bryant, Jenevieve Poor, Crew Belajonas, Molly, Jameson and Connor O’Hara, Kenneth & Aiden O’Hara, and a great-grandchild expected in July.
Services were held in Camden on March 4, 2020. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Jill’s memory may be made to Meals On Wheels, c/o MCH Inc. 46 Summer St., Rockland, ME 04841.
