Obituary for Dallas Levi Anthony

VINALHAVEN…………………Dallas Levi Anthony, 82, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in Vinalhaven. He had just returned home to the island the day before following a period of declining health. Born in Vinalhaven on November 6, 1938, he was the son of Francis Levi and Sylvia (Murch) Anthony.
On April 27, 1963, “Delly” married Ann Merritt in Bucksport. Delly had been employed as a chef at Husson College and had worked as a mate and chef on several private yachts in Marion, Massachusetts, New York and Florida. Delly moved back to Vinalhaven with his wife, Ann, and their four children, where he cooked and cut meat at local grocery stores and was a part-time lobsterman. Lobstering was always a passion of his. He retired from the grocery store to pursue his passion for the sea aboard his lobster boat, “Brittany Lyn”. He also enjoyed attending church at the Union Church and Pleasant River Chapel. Delly was known as a great cook and frequently cooked for church and community events. His home-made pies were always the most popular items to be auctioned off. He loved to sing and play piano at Vinalhaven Eldercare and was a member and past master of the Pleasant River Grange.
Delly loved people and was loved in return by everyone. He will be remembered for sense of humor and his kindness to others.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Anthony, his children, Thomas (Stephanie) Anthony; David (Beth) Anthony, Amy (Brian) Anthony, and Ellen Anthony; a sister, Viva Martin; eleven grandchildren, Brittany Anthony and her boyfriend Jody Saroka, Blake Anthony, Ethan, Riley, Avery, and Audrey Anthony, Anthony Merrill, Ashlee (James) Murray, Karanda, Rhys, Brenna Newbert; great-grandchildren, Vera and Levi Murray, Levi and Hallie Saroka; and several nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Service followed by a reception will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the Union Church in Vinalhaven.
