Obituary for Brett Allen Hayward

NORTHPORT…………………..Brett Allen Hayward, 48, of Northport, died on January 25, 2022. Born in Camden on September 18, 1973, he was the son of Lynn S. and Shirley (Crabtree) Hayward.
He was an honor graduate of Camden- Rockport High School Class of 1991, participating in many school activities and sports, especially enjoying soccer and basketball.
He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1995 with a degree in Biology/Bio Technology, then continuing on two years at Northeastern University, receiving his masters in Marine Biology. He then worked for National Fisheries in Nahant, MA for several years. In more recent years, he graduated as Valedictorian of his class from Husson University School of Nursing earning is bachelors degree.
Brett had a life-long love of nature which provided great comfort to him, throughout his struggles with his bi-polar diagnosis. His artistic eye and appreciation to natural surroundings gave him peace and comfort. Brett was also a great photographer having a keen sense capturing inspirational and beautiful images. Throughout the years, Brett’s dogs were the loves of his life and his constant faithful companions.
A true intellectual, Brett loved to read all types of materials. He incorporated some of what he learned into his daily life, always learning something new, which inspired him to complete such an extensive education.
He was a great listener, a true friend to many, and was always more interested in helping others. Brett loved tutoring, both in high school and college, and was unselfish with his time. He gave people encouragement when they needed it, always having something positive to say about each and everyone he knew and met. Brett will be truly missed by many.
Surviving are his parents, Lynn and Shirley Hayward of Northport; his brother Greg Hayward and his wife, Darcie Danforth Hayward and nephew Rory Hayward of Costa Mesa , CA, many aunts and uncles including Rita (David) Edman of Northport, Phyllis (Herbert) Jordan of Amherst; Dale (Geri) Hayward of Rockland, , and many cousins and longtime close friends from both high school and college . There will be a graveside service for Brett A. Hayward at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 6, 2022 , at Oak Hill Cemetery in Camden. A reception will be held immediately at the Rockport Masonic Center, 361 Main Street, Rockport. Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
