PAUL A. VOGT
ROCKPORT………………Paul Arthur Vogt, 89, a retired Vice President of Bank of America and WWII Veteran, died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Tall Pines in Belfast. Born in Everett, Massachusetts on April 28, 1925, he was the son of Paul Rene Vogt and Nellie Nyberg Vogt. He was educated in Everett schools and attended Rockhurst College, Kansas City, Missouri and the American Institute of Banking.
During WWII, Paul served as a Lieutenant with the U.S. 8th Air Force in the European Theatre and was a Veteran of 30 combat missions over Nazi Germany. He was awarded the Air Medal with oak leaf clusters, the European-African-Middle Eastern service medal with major battle stars, and the Victory medal. He also received an award from the French government for participation in the liberation of France from Nazi occupation.
On September 9, 1950, he married Rosemary Ellard at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Arlington, Massachusetts.
Paul enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Goose River Golf Club for many years. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriot’s fan. He enjoyed playing the piano and listening to many genres of music.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Rosemary Vogt; daughter, Nancy Ingraham and her husband, Mark; five grandchildren, Emily Ingraham, Leah Ingraham and Miles Ingraham of Rockport, Kira Vogt, Kagan Vogt and daughter-in-law, Christine Larch of Hillsboro, Oregon. He was predeceased by his son, Paul A. Vogt, Jr.
A graveside service will be held in the spring and will be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to YMCA Camp Belknap, P.O. Box 1546, Wolfeboro, NH 03894.
